    Adoption/Foster Care Training

A premier provider of training, consulting, coaching and resources for racial, ethnic
  and cultural  diversity in permanency.

Founder and principle trainer, Robert O'Connor MSW, LGSW, has been leading transracial
adoption training sessions and training engagements for more than 17 years.  He is a highly
sought after child welfare and diversity consultant serving county, state, federal, for-profit and
  non-profits entities.

Our team members are today and tomorrow's leaders in the child welfare and diversity fields.
First hand experience in transracial adoption or multiculturalism provides our members with
practical and essential insight into the needs of our clients.

Robert O'Connor is an adult transracial adoptee of African-American descent.  He and his
older brother experienced multiple failed adoptions and foster care prior to being transracially
adopted at the age of four.  He grew up as part of one of the first generations of transracial
adoptive families.  He has used his life experiences to move from state ward to state ward
administrator, from special ed. student to college professor,  and from cultural isolation to
practice innovation.   His is a story of perseverance, power, and promise.

What can be the impact of not knowing what you don't know? On children?
On families? On effective practice?  On client outcomes?

    Coaching

Worker, parent, and administrator coaching can be an
extremely effective means of aligning actions with
intended outcomes. Coaching can take place wherever
you are located geographically.

Coaching Workers: We provide Executive and front line coaching assistance related to diversity and inclusion, community engagement, cultural competency and effective practice and or performance.
Coaching Parents: You may have heard that "love is not enough, it is necessary, but not sufficient." We recognize this as a truism. Parenting children of color, and specifically, transracially parenting children of color, can be very different than parenting white/Caucasian children.
Research and practice has shown that there is an additional set of parenting assets that are important for successful transracial parenting. Our unique transracial developmental approach helps parents and youth to succeed. When you don't know what you don't know, how do you get into the know? Answer: Coaching.

We use tele-coaching (over the phone), to support families anywhere a phone can go, especially helpful to rural families and families living across state and international lines.

Key Benefits:
Cost Effective
Culturally Responsive
Flexible and Competent
